It is so simple and yet it is the best pineapple roasted ham I have ever eaten. It’s tender, and juicy and is naturally gluten-free.
There are two tricks to making The Best Pineapple Roasted Ham a success.
The first is purchasing a Master Carver Ham. I find mine at Costco, but they are widely available. This ham is pre-cooked, but not sliced.
The second trick is to use a Dutch oven or roasting pan. You will need a lid. That’s essential for keeping the juices in and making sure the ham doesn’t dry out.
I love my Staub 7-quart Dutch oven. It’s the workhorse in my kitchen. It keeps the meat juicy and tender. Additionally, it is the easiest pot to clean. I just love it!
To make the ham first, drizzle a little olive oil in the bottom of the pan. Then slice an onion and place it in a single layer in the bottom of the pan. This base will help prevent the ham from burning or browning too much on the bottom.
Next, open the ham and remove all packaging. It’s important to place the ham fat side up. This will help the fat ease into the meat as it cooks and keep it tender and flavorful.
The last item to go in the pot is pineapple. It doesn’t matter what kind of pineapple you use, they all work equally well. Hopefully, you have some on hand in your food storage and can whip this meal up without worrying if you have the ingredients on hand.
If you want to make it a complete meal Soft and Buttery Dinner Rolls, my easy Twice-Baked Potatoes and Decadent Brownies are family favorites with this ham.
